"Mike Doughty's World-Renowned, Award-Winning Question Jar Show"

"Doughty picks audience questions and requests out of a jar--and his audience is wickedly good at coming up with extremely weird things to ask."

After years of not playing the songs of the band he founded in the 90s, Mike Doughty's put together a show playing your favorites and his including the best of Soul Coughing-"Super Bon Bon", "Circles" among others.

Mike Doughty contains multitudes: Singer. Songwriter. Guitar player. Poet. Author. Playwright. Photographer. Most Improved Camper, West Point Youth Camp, 1982. He's released five solo albums, some EPs, a couple of live albums, a bunch of EDM tracks and remixes, a poetry book, and a memoir about that time he was in a band called Soul Coughing and didn't like it and took a lot of drugs. He most recently released an album of covers in the fall of 2012, wherein he played songs by John Denver, Cheap Trick, and Stephen Sondheim.

Ashley Sofia

Recently named "the future of Folk Rock," young artist, Ashley Sofia is making waves. Born and raised in the heart of the Adirondacks, Ashley grew up playing music and writing. When she was just 11 years old, she picked up her father's guitar and learned everything he was willing to show her. Today, and over 60 songs later, she plays, sings, and writes all of her own music. Her unreleased debut album, LOVE AND FURY, is highly anticipated by radio stations, blogs, and fans around the world. Her fresh Folk Rock sound has awoken listeners from her hometown to across the ocean. Known for her ability to sing you into a memory, she makes no apology for her commitment to the lyrics. She says her songs are "poems set to music." The oldest Folk Rock venue in the United States, the same place Bob Dylan got his start said, "We believe that soon, Ashley Sofia will become a household name."

Mon, Feb 9, 2015 - Area bands celebrate indie music, WEXT

ALBANY -- Holly Taormina shouted into the mic halfway through her 30-minute set, "If you want something done, you got to do it yourself." Perhaps that was the theme of the Indie Fest show Saturday night at the Linda, a fundraiser for WEXT radio and the Columbia Arts Team. Read More

Fri, Jan 17, 2014 - LIVE: Guy Davis @ WAMC-FM’s The Linda, 1/17/14

Guy Davis prefaced his lightning-fast opening number at The Linda by saying, "I've stolen so much, this song doesn't even have a title!" And even if he hadn't name-checked Charlie Patton and Blind Willie McTell after it was all over, the SRO crowd could easily hear about 100 years of the blues coursing through Davis' acoustic 12-string guitar, right down to the off-time beat that recalled Robert Johnson's original version of "Crossroads." But as Davis says he tells his students, "It's okay to steal music - but once you steal it, you have to earn it!" Read More
