Over Yonder by Amos Poe About the film Over Yonder, a music video by Amos Poe, is a stark, vivid counterpoint to Steve Earle's anti-death penalty song which the renegade Texas songwriter wrote after witnessing the execution of convicted killer Jonathan Nobles. Poe is considered by many to be the "father" of the modern independent American cinema and was one of the leading figures of the No Wave Cinema movement that grew out of the bustling New York City East Village music and art scene. His seminal 1976 portrait of an age, Blank Generation, chronicled the decadence and riotous rage of the New York punk rock scene.
Filmmaker Bio - Amos Poe Amos Poe is one of the leading figures of the No Wave Cinema movement (1976-85) that grew out of the bustling New York City East Village music and art scene. The No Wave Cinema included Jim Jarmusch, Eric Mitchell, Beth B and Scott B, Vivienne Dick, John Lurie, Becky Johnston, James Nares, Richard Kern and Nick Zedd, among others. This NYC-based group embraced B-movie genres, the avant-garde and the French New Wave, to create a fresh, vibrant American art cinema. Poe is considered by many to be the "father" of the modern independent American cinema. His films include:
Poe has made numerous music videos and has written countless feature scripts. He is currently teaching screenwriting and film production at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts; writing a book, Acid Baseball and preparing a feature film (Kenny Makes a Move) based on Richard Price's novel, Ladies' Man.
