Shot on two consecutive very rainy nights on Jay Street in Schenectady, NY, Shadow of A Man tells the story of Ray, a hopeless ne'er-do-well and his chance encounter with his own shadow. Ray and his shadow repair to an all-night café where Ray is forced to confront the details of his lurid past. [17 min.]
Filmmaker Bio
Len X. Clayton began making short animated super 8mm films in 1975. He studied film at Brock and York Universities in Ontario, Canada. Len wrote, produced, paid for, and directed the 16mm film Shadow of A Man in Schenectady, NY in 1998. Len is now a freelance Production Designer and Art Director living in Brooklyn, NY. He is the Production Designer for HBO's Interview With... and Cinemax's Final Cut series featuring Halle Berry, Diane Lane, John Cusack, Michael Douglas, Barry Sonnenfeld and others. He recently designed the music video, Strength of A Woman for the artist Shaggy. Len has designed 7 feature films. The Station Agent, his most recent Art Directing credit, won three awards at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival including the Audience Award for Best Feature. The Station Agent will be released by Miramax this fall.

Upstate Independents, a salon of the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers, is a network of over 130 Capital Region independent filmmakers, screenwriters, actors, and media artists. Meetings are open to the public, and both amateurs and professionals are welcome.
